Built on Principle.
Driven by Purpose.
The Rouben Malian Memorial Foundation is more than a non-profit organization. It is a living testament to the power of a single individual to effect change and the collective power of a community to carry that torch forward. We are a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the fundamental belief that opportunity should be universal.
From the bustling streets of New York to the historic landscapes of Armenia and the underserved communities of Sydney, our mission is to dismantle the barriers that keep potential locked away. We operate at the intersection of immediate humanitarian relief and long-term systemic advocacy. We do not just feed the hungry; we fight for the economic systems that allow them to feed themselves. We do not just donate computers; we advocate for the educational funding that ensures those computers are tools for a brighter future.
A Legacy
To understand the mission of this foundation, one must first understand the man who inspired it. Rouben Malian was a figure of formidable character. He was known not only for his business acumen but for a moral compass that pointed true north regardless of the circumstances. He passed away in Sydney, Australia, leaving behind a legacy that reverberates to this day.

The Man of Integrity. In a world that often rewards compromise, Rouben was a man of unimpeachable integrity. He believed that a person’s word was their bond and that success achieved without honor was no success at all. This principle is the bedrock of our foundation. We conduct every aspect of our operations with the same rigorous ethical standards that Rouben applied to his own life. Whether we are interacting with a major donor or a single beneficiary in a remote village, we treat every individual with dignity, honesty, and respect.

The Spirit of Tenacity. Rouben was defined by his tenacity. He did not view obstacles as stop signs. He viewed them as puzzles to be solved. He understood that life is rarely a straight line and that resilience is the most valuable currency a person can possess. It is this spirit that drives our work in the digital divide and poverty alleviation. We tackle problems that others deem too difficult, too expensive, or too complex. When we face legislative gridlock or logistical challenges, we channel Rouben’s tenacity. We push forward until we find a way.

The "Big Bets" Philosophy. Perhaps the most defining trait of Rouben Malian was his willingness to take "big bets" in life. He was not a man who played it safe on the sidelines. He understood that to achieve extraordinary results, one must be willing to take calculated risks. This philosophy is now the strategic engine of our foundation. We are not interested in incremental change. We are looking for transformative impact. We invest in programs and innovations that have the potential to change the trajectory of an entire community. We back bold ideas. We support unproven methods if the potential reward for our beneficiaries is high enough. We are the risk-takers for those who cannot afford to take risks themselves.
Our History
The Rouben Malian Memorial Foundation was born out of a profound loss, but it was built on a foundation of hope. Following Rouben’s passing in 2018, his family, friends, and colleagues sought a way to channel their grief into something that would honor his life in a tangible way. They realized that a simple statue or plaque would not suffice for a man who was always in motion. Rouben’s memory demanded action.
The Foundation began as a small initiative focused on charitable works within the Armenian community, a group that Rouben held close to his heart. However, guided by his "big bet" mentality, the vision quickly expanded. We realized that the values Rouben embodied—generosity, education, and economic independence—were universal needs.

Today, we have grown into a multifaceted organization headquartered in New York City. We bridge the gap between local community needs and global humanitarian efforts. We have evolved from a memorial fund into a dynamic engine for social change. We actively shape policy, fund education, and provide critical relief to thousands.
Looking to the Future
We are proud of what we have achieved since 2018, but we are not satisfied. The digital divide is widening as technology advances. Economic disparity is growing. The needs of the Armenian community and underserved populations continue to evolve.

The future of the Rouben Malian Memorial Foundation will be defined by expansion and innovation. We plan to launch new initiatives focused on remote learning technologies. We aim to expand our vocational training partnerships to include emerging green energy sectors. We intend to deepen our advocacy work in Washington D.C. and state capitals to secure permanent funding streams for at-risk schools.
We invite you to be part of this future. Whether you knew Rouben personally or are meeting him for the first time through this website, we welcome you to our family. Together, we will continue to take big bets. Together, we will continue to win for those who need it most
